mal|dì|re
v.intr. e tr.,sec. XIII; comp. di 1male e dire, cfr. lat. maldicere.
To curse, old italian for speaking bad of.
However, Maldire is more than just a word.
Founded in 2015, the project immediately made a strong impact on the dance scene, paving the way for printed and high-end dance apparel, now fully integrated into the Balletcore aesthetics.
Since then, the brand has embarked on a slow process of reinterpreting sport garments, merging them with both past and present couture, and redefining athleisure and bodywear with its own unique voice.
Designed in Berlin and produced in the Venetian countryside, Maldire draws inspiration from the nightlife to the gilded woods of the Republic, embracing debris, decadence, and nostalgia as constants.
With one foot in the future and the other in the past, and a connection to old-school handcraft, Maldire has developed pieces where laser-cut bonding coexists harmoniously with hand stitching, mixing up to five different fabrics for a single garment.
All garments are meticulously planned in the Berlin atelier and then sampled and produced exclusively within a stone's throw from Venice. Maldire proudly sources fabrics produced exclusively in Italy, blending cutting-edge stretch non-woven fabrics with the almost forgotten bridals, satins, and meshes that once were the crown jewels of Italian textiles.
The Italian textile sector has always been a pinnacle in the worldwide garment industry for its poetry and taste. It is both a pleasure and a mission for Maldire to revitalize many small ateliers threatened by foreign fast fashion.
